The Widow's Mite

The title of this story refers to the scene in the Gospels where Jesus observes a widow donates two small coins, all she has, to the Temple. He praises how she gives of herself entirely, and her small contribution means more than the great wealth given by those who have much. This scene is found in Mark 12:41–44 and Luke 21:1–4.

‘Mite’ means a small coin or small amount of money.
