The Fiery Inferno
Update: In the afterword, John Peter asked about why Mary is called “Our Lady of Good Help” at this apparition.
According to those we corresponded with at the shrine:
Our Lady of Good Help comes from the inscription that was originally placed above the doors of the 1861 chapel that the area's Belgian settlers built on the apparition grounds.
The inscription read, "Notre Dame De Bon Secours, Priez Pour Nous". This is translated as "Our Lady of Good Help, Pray for Us." Our Lady of Good Help had a strong devotion amongst the Belgian people at that time.
There is a large church in Quebec from the 1700’s dedicated to Our Lady of Good Help.
Aleteia claims, “Mary’s title ‘Our Lady of Good Help’ comes from Her concluding words to Adele: ‘Go and fear nothing. I will help you.’” Given the prior devotion to Our Lady of Good Help goes back generations, we are inclined to agree that this is speculation.
The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help is just outside Green Bay, Wisconsin.
